Management of Contracted Socket refers to the treatment and care of patients who have developed a contracted socket after undergoing an eye removal surgery or enucleation. A contracted socket is a condition in which the tissues surrounding the eye socket become tight, making it difficult or impossible for the patient to wear an ocular prosthesis or artificial eye comfortably.
Some of the treatment options we offer include socket expansion surgery, which involves the use of tissue expanders to stretch the skin and tissues around the socket, allowing for the placement of a larger prosthesis. We also offer socket conformers, which are custom-made devices that are placed in the socket to prevent further contraction and promote healing.
At the Centre for Artificial Eye, we offer specialized management and treatment options for patients with contracted sockets. Our team of experienced ocularists and surgeons work together to create a personalized treatment plan based on each patient’s unique needs.
In addition to surgical and non-surgical options, we also provide counseling and support services to help patients adjust to the changes in their appearance and cope with any emotional or psychological challenges they may face. Our goal is to provide compassionate care and help our patients regain their confidence and quality of life.
